Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and signifies the number one. Aleph indicates the Oneness and Unity of the Creator. It hints that beyond the illusion of separation and duality is underlying Oneness – that nothing is separate and the Creator is the source of everything. Aleph represents the creation of something from nothing. It is the essential symbol of beginnings and ultimate reality that cannot be talked about, timeless, spaceless, and present everywhere. It is the One that cannot be divided, representing perfection beyond human comprehension.
The Fools Card
The Fool sees what even the wise cannot see. The dog at his side barks for The Fool to stop, but The Fool is carefree and holds a flower in his hand. In his satchel are also the four elements, but they are hidden because his magic is a deeper magic that cannot be re- vealed. The light that shines down upon him is pure white unadul- terated light because The Fool’s faith draws the Creator’s notice. His faith is his magic. Faith, (emunah) in Hebrew, shares its root with (oman), the word for craftsman. An artisan does not have to think about where his hands go—he has perfectly trained limbs to do his work. Similarly, the skill of the heart is recognizing Truth. The faithful heart has an immediate, positive response to Truth.
